Black Dance Change Makers
RETREAT 2022
Dear potential sponsors, donors, contributors, and volunteers…
Thank you for taking the time to consider this proposal and allow us to share our vision with you. This event is an expansion and continuation of our inaugural Best Life Retreat that we produced in 2021, and parallels your commitment to uniting and uplifting Black dancers, and dancers of color.
We’re excited to share with you our proposal for the

Scope
Mission:
We stick together. Through rhythm, through balancing flexibility with strength, through courageously inspiring others to join in, and be a part of a real movement.
Black Dance Change Makers is a platform designed to unite and uplift Black-identifying dancers, through leadership, education, service, and community building. We offer a safe, resourceful community for Black dancers around the world to connect with each other.
Past Work:
We've hosted more than 100 events in just one year, connecting more than 100 Black dancers, including students, performers, educators, choreographers, directors, photographers, filmmakers, and writers. We've donated more than 330 canned food items with Feeding America, donated more than 115 clothing items with American Red Cross, and have planted 130 Trees in Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania with One Tree Planted.
We've worked together as a community during one of the hardest years, to cultivate a space for connection, building, healing, and growth.
Past Retreat:
Black Dance Change Makers was thrilled to host our first annual Best Life Retreat in the summer of 2020.
Founded as a platform designed to unite and uplift Black-identifying dancers through leadership, education, service, and community building, our Best Life Retreat was developed by embracing those four pillars.
We were thrilled to invite Sharron Lynn, Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Amira Johnson, Kam Saunders, and DJ Amarji King as our headliners for this event.
Through this virtual offering, we grew our community of empowering leaders and established an environment in which we can rechart, recharge, and reignite our inner selves, together.
“We worked together as a community during one of the hardest years, to cultivate a space for connection, building, healing, and growth.”
